Blogging Incognito

Twitter, I love you man!

I’m not a blogger.  I’ve read many blogs and respect the people that can do it in an intelligent manner. My blogs tend to be like my thoughts, which is a simplified version of mental hyperlinking.

One of my New Years resolutions has been to become a more effective blogger (don’t ask me why).  Now I need a topic to blog about and one came to mind .. Twitter.

I first signed up for Twitter due to a friend on MySpace had a little icon on her page that said ‘follow me on Twitter’.  Hmmm.. ok.  So I clicked on the link and proceeded to sign up for an account.  That was it for several months, and to be honest, I didn’t “get it”. Fast forward 8 months and another friend @clocktower, a person that I had worked with, convinced me to give Twitter another attempt.  That push was all I needed, I’ve been hooked since. Why Twitter?  First of all a bit of back ground about me.  I work in the Tech industry and its almost impossible to stay on top of everything (including current news, hardware, software, websites etc).  Honestly who has the time? Through Twitter I’m able to stay up on new technology, current events before they are reported, networking, and have received help on SQL issues when I have been stuck at work.  I’m convinced the Twitter community is one of the most switched on social networking communities.  Of course it depends who you follow and what you are looking for.   So here is a few individuals I count on for information or just love (in no particular order and it may be seasonal).

  1. @kidtechguru  He is a 14 yr old kid that finds the greatest information, new apps and programs.  I love his web site and constantly passing the information on to relevant sources that would appreciate it.
  2. @ces09  This would be considered more along the lines of ’seasonal’.  CES09 has been a fantastic central source for people to network for CES in Las Vegas.  I’ve gone each year (except last) and each year I didn’t know many others that were attending.  This year I don’t feel like I’m going alone and it will be a bigger party then the previous years!
  3. @mayhemstudios   I recently started following Calvin, and the links, websites, information he passes on has been information I have used immediately as well as passed on to others. I found him on  http://www.retweetrank.com/  He was #1 for Retweets! Amazing (I was in the 13.3 percentile range!).
  4. @BreakingNewsOn  According to their bio: Live breaking news and developing stories… 24/7. Your most credible Twitter news source. First in on line breaking news! And its true.  They tweet information before I see it on the internet news sites or the news!  How do they get? Its amazing.
  5. @DieLaughing  His name is J. Adam Moore and he is funnier then hell.  Probably the type of guy I sat with in high school at the back of the class making fun of everyone.  His humor is wrong, at times inappropriate, but then so am I.  He appeals to the darkest of my dark humor.
  6. @Tweetbomb  Throws in a fun twitter twist.  The way it works is you start following @tweetbomb.  At 3:33pm (EST) they release a user name.  Everyone then types in the user name (@that_name) and hits enter.  The person they select proceeds to get bombed.  Today is was @justinschuck and he was bombed by over 350 tweets.
  7. @nick   He is another funny guy, I read his tweets and laugh. Who says you can’t be funny in 140 characters or less?

Those are the tweets that come to the top of my brain. I would direct message them and let them know about my blog.. but considering the phishing on Twitter, I will choose to do that at another time :-)

Next week CES.. I’ll keep you posted.

OJ is Guilty and Palin has been set free.

Last night OJ Simpson was found Guilty (of all 12 counts?). I don’t know if the rest of the world has been following it, but in Las Vegas it tends to be a footnote on the news cast. Nothing dramatic, it needs to be reported, but no one really cared.

Maybe it was boring due to the overwhelming evidence against him. It was a locked case. And the Judge.. don’t mess with her!! She was no Judge Ito! She kept the courtroom in control and didn’t mince words with the verdict:

Considering the majority of the American public are happy to be led as sheep and let the media form and define their opinions/votes. Therefore when she received rave reviews for the debate, I was (again) shocked and amazed. Since the bar for Palin was so far below sea level heading into the debate, it’s easy to conclude she won by sheer virtue of exceeding those dismally low expectations.
